First Days of Work

Late Winter marked the beginning of Breaking and Training for our 7 Standardbred horses, preparing them to race in harness races.

As a new employee, I was excited to be a part of this process. I had always been fascinated by the sport of horse racing, and now I had the chance to be a part of it. The first days of work were a bit overwhelming, as I attempted to learn the ropes of my new job. But the people I worked with were patient and helpful, showing me the ropes and correcting my mistakes.

I remember the feeling of satisfaction I got after completing my first task successfully. It was the little things at first, like cleaning the stalls or grooming the horses. But as time goes on, I would be given more responsibility and entrusted with tasks like feeding and exercising the horses.

The days were long, and the work could be physically demanding, but I didn’t mind. I was learning about something I was passionate about, and that made it all worth it. As the winter gave way to spring, I watched as the horses progressed in their training, becoming stronger and faster with each passing week.

Looking back on those first days of work, I realize how much I’ve grown since then. I’ve developed skills that I never knew I had, and I’ve gained confidence in myself and my abilities.

The New Arrivals

Their rigorous training begins with exercise, proper nutrition, and education on how to race effectively. Along with their handlers and trainers, the horses learn to develop their physical stamina, speed, and agility. They are taught to gallop and trot on the tracks, maneuver through obstacles, and compete in races.

During their training, horses also undergo various medical checks and treatments to ensure their health and well-being. It’s important to care for the horses’ hooves, teeth, and overall physical state, as they are the key to their success in racing. In case of any injuries or illnesses, the horses are quickly treated to prevent any further harm.

The training period usually lasts for several months and the horses are constantly monitored and assessed to evaluate their progress. Once the horses have passed their training, they are ready to race and compete against other horses. The races are a test of their abilities, and only the most skilled and well-trained horses emerge as champions.

In conclusion, horse training is an intricate process that requires dedication, patience, and expertise. It is not an easy feat to break a horse, train them, and turn them into an excellent racing animal. However, with hard work and commitment, anyone can do it and create a champion horse that will go on to win many races and accolades.
